In 1997, Edison International formed Edison Utility Services.
Its business purpose was to be a self-sufficient organization able to deliver electric
utility services to non-regulated utilities.
2001
In January 2001, Edison Utility Services was acquired by SRM-ENCO
LLC, whose majority ownership is held by Apollo Real Estate Advisors Fund IV
(www.apollorealestate.com), a private
equity fund with diversified holdings in excess of $1 billion dollars. Apollo
has the resources to provide startup and system infrastructure financing to our customers.
2002
In July 2002 we changed our name from Edison Utility Services
to ENCO Utility Services. ENCO Utility Services is not affiliated with Edison
International or any of its subsidiaries.
Today
Today, ENCO is the leading, non-regulated provider of
fully bundled retail electric distribution services. Our major customers
are local governments and municipal agencies that are new to the retail electric distribution business.
